News from Malawi

Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world, ranked 169 out of 191 on the UN Human Development Index (2021/22) with over half of the population living in poverty, with one fifth living in extreme poverty. However, the country has great potential due to the people as well as an availability being just two of its many assets. To help the community achieve their full potential we are funding a number of development projects, with the most important being to ensure that everybody has access to a permanent source of clean, safe water. This is outlined in the video.

Thanks to your support, our partner organization has managed to drill and equip 140 wells which provide clean water to over 50,000 people. This means that we have reduced the transmission of water-borne diseases as well as improving overall hygiene, we’ve been able to improve the nutrition through planting and watering fruit trees and vegetables, we’ve increased school attendance (particularly among girls) as children would otherwise be expected to walk long distances to help fetch water, and improved people’s general quality of life. In total the drilling and equipping of a well costs $4,000, and so our sincere thanks go to our donors, friends and volunteers making all this wonderful work possible.
